Road Trip

After the Miami win on Sunday, the Sixers headed out west for a 5 game road trip. We need and I believe we can take 3 out of 5 during this west coast stand. On Tuesday night the Sixers earned a win in LA, against the best team in the West. Andre Iguodala had ice water in his veins on the final possession, knocking down his first triple of the game with no time left. The Sixers could have went for 2 and played for overtime, but I think Iggy and the Sixers felt they had a better shot to drain the 3 rather than face the LA Lakers in an overtime battle. The Sixers came back from a 14 point deficit in the 4th quarter and this hopefully showed the league and our fans that this time team is never going to roll over.

Last night the Sixers had to play against another tough team in Phoenix and the Suns played extremely well and won 126-116. Shaq was dominating in this game knocking down 12 of 18 from the field. The Suns were in rhythm and Coach DiLeo said he tried different defenses during the games, but the Suns offense was just clicking. This was a tough game not only because it was against the Suns, but because it was on the night after the Lakers tough game. In the last three games Donyell Marshall has seen some time off the bench and is taking full advantage of it going 10-15 from the field with 31 points. This is a veteran player who knows how to play in some big games and can really help a team that struggles from behind the arch.

The Sixers have 3 more games left on this stand, Friday against the Warriors, Sunday against the Kings, and Monday against the Blazers. All three games are winnable, but I think we can take 2 of 3. Golden State isn’t really playing for much at this point of the season and have a game tonight against the Lakers and Sacramento is on a 5 game losing streak and I don’t see the Sixers losing that game. Portland’s a tough team and Monday night will be their first game back from an east coast road trip, so I’m looking at wins against Golden State and Sacramento and a loss in Portland. That’s 3 out of 5 on a tough trip and then we come home for 2 winnable games in Philly.
